Mets Win In Extra's

Was a long night for our our boys out at Shea but the Mets pulled it out. John Maine had a little bit of Kyle Kendrick in him tonight when it came to the walks (5) but was able to keep it together and only gave up one run over 6. Jose Reyes got the call at the plate after this season's big story for the Mets, Angel Pagan got us the go ahead rbi in the 12th.

Now for the bad news. Aaron Heilman's early struggles continued as he fell apart to give up a couple of runs. Its still early but he hasn't looked at that good so far and hopefully can turn things around relatively soon. Billy Wagner lost his shot for the save after Heilman tripped things up and still sits without a save opportunity. As long as we keep winning, thats fine by me.

Tom Gordon of the Phillies, who probably had thoughts of redemption when Lidge hit the DL has not been good at all coming out of the pen. He allowed both hits and the eventual winning run. Its early in the season but he is already at 0-2 with an era over 10. Could be a long season for the Phillies bullpen between DL trips for Lidge and the ineffectiveness of Gordon.

This weekend series has our Mets squaring off against the Brewers. Dont know what to expect out of Nelson Figueroa, who has been thrust into the starting rotation, but I look forward to a good game tonight. Reyes showed some life with a 2-6 night and his 1st SB of the season. Hopefully he can build on that. Wright and Delgado both shared the donut combining for 0-7 but they can turn things around and take advantage of Manny Parra. Thats all I've got for now. Next time we meet I hope to be updating you on another Mets win.

Oh, PS: GO Rangers! MAKE IT 2-0 TONIGHT!

Rangers Win 4-1/Mets "walk" away with one

Was an outstanding night for both my teams going. Rangers win 4-1 over the Devils.

Devils looked demoralized at the end of the game and it is probably now creeping into their heads that there is no way they are advancing, lol Rangers capatilized when they needed to and the Devils probably wish they had Gomez back. Shanahan was outstanding last night and the only question that remians is how many games do we play with the devils before we move on past them.

Meanwhile over at Shea, the Mets WALKED away with victory as the Phillies attempted to see just how many errors they could produce with Jimmy Rollins out of the lineup.

Kyle Kendrick (shown above) only looked good in form last night as he attempted to walk the entire lineup. Mike Pelfrey, who for now has been thrust into the #4 slot in the rotation, looked pretty decent last night. I hope to see him in his next outing cut down on the pitch count and go a little deeper into the game. Angel Pagan continues to come through and almost makes ya wonder if we even want Alou coming off the DL anytime soon. Carlos Delgado continues to show that he still has much left to show. early going in the season has him batting over .350 and getting on base every chance he can get. only question so far is when Jose Reyes will steer clear of the Mendoza line but it is still very early in the season and I look forward to good things.
