Figueroa Comes Through

Nelson Figueroa pitched went 6 strong as the Mets made it 3 in a row on Friday night and get our Mets above the .500 mark. All around good story for Figueroa who spent last season pitching for what seemed like eveyone on the planet.

The Good:

Angel Pagan continued his tear by picking up another 2 hits along with his tenth rbi.

Aaron Heilman got through the 8th inning which gave Billy Wagner his 1st save opportunity this season. Wags then proceeded to breeze through the 9th for the save.

The Bad:

Well at least not for us anyway, the Brewers looked just plain bad on the field. Fielder lets one go right by him early in the game while Gabe Gross booted one and Jason Kendall threw one away. In their defense (or lack thereof), you've got guys playing out of position and I dont see exactly how they are supposed to fix a broken wheel when they dont have the tools.

The Ugly:

Jose Reyes, after going 0-3 to keep his average just a touch over the .200 mark, pulls up lame with tightness in his hamstring and at best wont play in Saturdays game with Johan on the mound. I can only hope that this is a minor thing and that he can start to get things turned around. If we are going to succeed this season we will need a healthy and productive Reyes.

Saturdays game: Gonna be a good pitching matchup as Johan Santana (1-1) takes on Ben Sheets (1-0). We are probably gonna have Jose Reyes out, with Damion Easely filling in at SS, but other than that our lineup should be the same. Who knows what configuration the Brewers will go with on the field as Braun played LF yesterday but pitching duel aside, our Mets should pull this one out as well.

Now on to Hockey.

Rangers got another one last night and took down the Devils 2-1 to take a 2-0 lead in the series (which I again repeat, will not go past 5 games). Lundqvist was stellar behind goal again while Jagr and Avery provided the offense with a 23 second flury in the 3rd period. Sunday night I look for us to take a 3-0 lead.

About JB's Musings
I'm a fan of all sports and spend way too much time on CBS message boards, lol This is just a place where I will post my daily thoughts and look for occasional feedback (which I look forward to hearing).
